SAWA SMPTE White Paper

The way the industry makes digital cinema content is changing. Film studios, manufacturers, service providers, and cinemas are working together towards a slow-but-deliberate-industry-move from the interim Interop DCP type of Digital Cinema Package (DCP) to the standard SMPTE DCP. SAWA strongly advises the technical departments of its members and / or its service contractors to set up a suitably-timed migration plan and to follow the information contained in this white paper, which is aimed to be updated as and when new information becomes available. Failing to establish your own correctly-timed migration plan from Interop DCP to SMPTE DCP is likely to introduce risks in the long-term over the reliability of distribution and playback as Interop DCP become less considered and tested by the industry of inter-related systems and service agents.
