Digital sub-committee members

The below Industry people make up the SAWA Digital Sub Committee and volunteer their time to set standards and recommendations in the Digital rollout for Cinema Advertising. SAWA thanks these people for their timeless efforts and dedication to the ensuring the highest level of Digital Deployment for Cinema Advertising is achieved through the publishing of the SAWA Digital Standards and Recommendations document which is now in its 3rd edition and can be found in the members only section.

TOM COTTON

Vice President European Operations and Business Development, Technicolor Digital Cinema

Tom has been working in the Digital Cinema industry since 2005, and is responsible for Technicolor’s European Digital Cinema business. This focuses on the mastering and distribution of digital content to cinemas for theatrical, alternative content, and advertising customers. Prior to this, Tom spent 6 years in the Screen Advertising industry, as Sales and Business Development Director of Screenvision Europe and, previously, Carlton Screen Advertising.

RICHARD NYE

Cinema Sales Director, EMEA

Richard is the Cinema Sales Director for Christie, based in their EMEA Headquarters in the UK. Richard is responsible for developing sales and marketing strategy for Christie’s cinema business in EMEA, including 35mm, digital on-screen advertising and Digital Cinema. Richard has held this position for over 7 years and during this time, has been instrumental in securing key Digital Cinema contracts for Christie, including the UK Film Council Digital Screen Network and Europe’s first VPF-funded deployment in France. Richard joined Christie in 1996.


CHRISTOF FEDERLE

Chief Financial Officer, Cinecom Austria and founder and Chief ExecutiveOfficer, Cinecom Systems

Christof joined Cinecom in 2001 and was responsible for the implementation of digital advertising in Austria in 2003/2004. He established Cinecom Systems in 2006 as a hardware and software provider for E-Cinema solutions. Before joining Cinecom, Christof Federle was COO of an international advertising agency. He has a Masters Degree in Business Administration.

CARL MARTIN KLINGBERG

Chief Executive Officer, CAPA

Carl Martin is Chairman of the SAWA Digital Sub-Committee and in 2007 was elected President of SAWA. He established CAPA in 1990 and grew the company to become the dominant leader of cinema advertising in Norway. CAPA pioneered digital transmission and projection together with Unique Digital Ltd in the late 90s and was the first to fully deploy digital distribution and projection making Norway the first complete nationwide digital cinema network in the world.


JULIAN PINN

Director, Distribution Services, Production Services Group

Julian Pinn is responsible for the maintenance and growth of Dolby’s service and technologyofferings to the motion picture content creation and distribution industries. He has fourteen years of experience in the motion picture industry as sound consultant, re-recording mixer, and dubbing supervisor for both original and foreign-language movie releases. He is also heavily involved with standards-making and is Chairman of both the British Standards Institution Technical Committee on Cinematography (BSICPW36) and the International Organisation for Standardisation Technical Committee on Cinematography (ISO-TC36). Julian is dedicated to providing service to the screen advertising industry in the promotion of standards and the quality of the medium itself; he is Dolby’s liaison for Screen Advertising Contractors and partners. He holds a Masters.

ENNO DIETRICH

Chief Executive Officer, adeins Media Logistik GmbH

Enno is a Board member of adeins, a contractor subsidiary of Weischer. Mediengruppe, the German market-leader in cinema advertising. Based in Hamburg, he is also responsible for cinema operations and logistics, the central production department and all activities concerning Digital Cinema of the Weischer Mediengruppe. Previously, Enno has worked for ten years in advertising agencies like McCann-Erickson, D’Arcy and others. He also spent seven years as Marketing Director at Universal Music Germany and other local media companies/ production houses.


DAVE SPILDE

Managing Director of Bug Norway

In 1997, at the young age of 20, Dave Spilde founded Unique Cinema Systems AS together with his partner Chris Olsson-Hagan. In 2002 the company, overnight, switched every cinema in Norway to digital for advertising, making CAPA the first contractor in the world to go 100 per cent digital. The company has since branched off to the international equivalent Unique Digital Ltd. Today the Unique is the major supplier of both digital screen advertising products as well as D-Cinema systems integration. In 2010 Dave became Managing Director of Bug Norway. BUG is an international full service production company based in Bergen.

PATRICK VAN DIJCK

Managing Director of Brightfish Belgium

Patrick Van Dijck (45) is the Managing Director of Belgian advertising sales house Brightfish (formerly Screenvision Belgium). Prior to joining Screenvision in 2005 he served as Director Cinema Operations at European cinema advertising network RMB International. He also held different sales and marketing positions within IP Belgium, Sobemap Marketing and ASK BMI.


PATRICK VON SYCHOWSKI

Global Head of Strategy for Reliance Mediaworks

Reliance MediaWorks is India’s fastest growing film and media services company and part of Reliance ADAG, where he spearheaded the company’s push into digital cinema, film restoration and image processing and 2D-to-3D conversion. Prior to joining Reliance Patrick was Head of Business Development for Unique Digital and Deluxe, launching both companies digital cinema operations in Europe. Prior to this Patrick was a Senior Analyst for media research company Screen Digest.

MARLON TEICHFUSS

Chief Executive Officer, CineDavis GmbH

Marlon is CEO of CineDavis GmbH in Dresden, Germany. He has twenty years experience in digital image, video and sound technologies and is now focused on research and development in Digital cinema in collaboration with market leaders in Germany; he is the system architect of the ONEDCN digital cinema system. Marlon has a PhD in Physics from Technical University of Dresden.


CHERYL WANNELL

General Manager, SAWA

Cheryl Wannell initially joined SAWA in 2003 when she relocated to London and in 2006 returned to Australia and now runs the Secretariat from the Sydney Office. In 2004 she became General Manager and is responsible for running the Global Trade body reporting to the Executive Council and the President of SAWA. Previously, Cheryl worked for twenty years with Val Morgan Cinema Advertising based in Australia and was at the time of relocating to the United Kingdom in 2003, Managing Director Worldwide responsible for the eleven operations throughout the world. Her background is in Marketing, Sales and Business Management.

MARK STEPHEN

Client Development Manager, Unique Digital Ltd.

Mark has over 14 years experience within the screen advertising business, both in the European and in the US markets. He has successfully managed projects both in the deployment of E-Cinema and the delivery of advertising to D-Cinema – providing a technical liaison between Exhibitor, advertiser and solution provider. Mark’s current role has focus on developing the integration between pre-show creation and digital presentation in an ever developing market sector.
